Biography
David MacGregor received a BA Honors degree (1969) and MA (1974) from Carleton University. He was a sociologist with the Government of Canada from 1971 to 1975. After completing a PHD at the London School of Economics and Political Science in 1978, he joined the faculty of King's University College at the University of Western Ontario, where he is Professor of Sociology. His book, The Communist Ideal in Hegel and Marx (University of Toronto Press, 1984) won the 1995 John Porter Memorial Award. Among his other publications are Hegel, Marx and the English State (Westview Press, 1992; University of Toronto Press, 1996); Hegel and Marx After the Fall of Communism (Wales University Press, 1998), and numerous articles on Hegel and Marx. He is contributing editor, along with Terry Gillin and Tom Klassen, to Time's Up: Mandatory Retirement in Canada (James Lorimer, 2005).
Research Interest
He has contributed a number of articles on road safety and auto mobility, and on the nature of terror after 9-11. His research interests are Hegel, Marx, Sociology of Film, Sociology of Terrorism, Traffic Sociology.
